Vashon Island House

Located on Vashon Island, this house is divided into three distinct volumes. The plan fans out along the top of a grassy slope and is separated into a bedroom wing, living room wing and studio building. By breaking the geometry between these units, the house makes the most of views and light while offering privacy where needed. Between the two primary volumes, the main entry has a framed view out between the bedroom and living room. The main room is a single, open space comprised of a living room, dining room, kitchen and breakfast nook. Along the ridge and to the side of the main house sits the artist studio/office building, which is an open plan with skylights to provide ample natural light for painting.
