Wallingford
This client knew they had one of the architectural gems of the Wallingford neighborhood in Seattle. When they approached the firm they said that they wanted to add a second floor to the house but only if it would maintain or improve the house’s architectural presence. The house was originally purchased as a Sears Catalog House in the 1920’s. The Pagoda Style Bungalow uses unique roof-framing details and heavy timbers. The addition plays off the pagoda styling by setting the second floor within the existing roof and as low as possible. The details replicate the detailing of the house in all new areas. A new paint scheme highlights the detailing and adds definition to the scheme. |
