Useless Bay
This beach house occupies a narrow lot with neighbors on either side. In order to take light deep into the house, monitors and skylights illuminate flanking hallways, which run from the front of the house through to the beach in the back. The white-painted wood walls and ceilings add to the durable and timeless character of the house. Sheltered decks face the water but afford protection from the unpredictable winds off Puget Sound. Built-in bookshelves, desks, windowseats and banquets provide much-needed storage space and give the house a thoroughly designed feel. A small bath and bunkroom is located upstairs in the attic space. |
