San Miguel
This is the first of our projects in Mexico. The house combines the office’s principles of light and space with the architecture and traditions of the area. Beginning at the street with the ruins of two 18th-century rooms, the house extends both backward and up. A central courtyard organizes the house and provides light and air to all rooms. The two original rooms were refitted with fireplaces and now serve as the living room and dining room. An outdoor living room, kitchen, pantry, powder room and maid’s quarters complete the main floor. Two bedroom suites and a roof terrace make up the second level, while another roof terrace with 360 degree views makes up the third. Traditional stone, brick, tile, wood and steel work are use throughout the house. |
