This classic American house sits within 130 acres of open meadows, forest and beachfront. The house design drew its inspiration from the generously proportioned nineteenth century summer houses on the East Coast. Large wood windows, generous porches and an open floor plan connect the house to its setting and the views beyond. The floor plan is largely symmetrical with a central great room for kitchen, living and dining and bedrooms located on either side. Accessed by ladders reminiscent of a boat, the open lofts flank the great room and provide space for the couple's grown children. A key element in the house is the use of natural light. Seven-foot doors with transoms above invite light and views while a long covered porch serves as a visor to protect from the glare.
